To make a long story short, my band has a very high chance of loosing our lead player (and this makes me sad). So, because there is no one else that I know that is into metal and that is decently good, I might have to carry on the band doing the whole one guitar thing. So I need some good metal bands that a single guitarist could pull off.

Well, I can only think of two really good metal bands with one guitarist:

Kathaarsys - They use a guy for live, but J. L. Montâns is the only guitarist in the band.

Behemoth - Nergal plays guitar, but uses studio/live musicians.

Count... strings?

A lot of early SYL stuff can be pulled off with one guitar. The sound will be less full, but it's doable.

What tuning would you be in, by the way?

You're saying Chevelle isn't metal when a minute ago you posted Mudvayne?

EDIT: I checked, they've switched a billion times, so I guess it counts

Braindrill only has one has far as I know, which is really wierd

And Napalm Death only had one guitarist live yesterday.. Grindcore counts in here right?
#30
No, it's all done by Nergal in the studio.

Their latest guitarist is Seth (as far as I know).

Yeah, Behemoth has two, but Nergal does pretty much all of the rhythm in studio and most of the leads. And he writes it all, so for all intents and purposes there is only one contributing guitarist in Behemoth.

Though Seth (Havok quit a while ago) is awesome in his own right, I must say. Nergal has high standards.

Then Necrophagist only has one guitarist.. Actually only one musician

He sends it to the others in Guitar Pro

Yeah, I mean the worst drummer in the band (Can't remember his name...), was still well above the average metal drummer.

I'm pretty sure Seth wrote a riff or two on Demigod and The Apostasy...but, I can't remember which ones

I hope he lets some of the others contribute this time round. Much of an awesome songwriter he is, it would be cool to see what they're capable of.

WEBBDIT: ^I think Seth handles acoustic stuff, like the intro to Sculpting the Throne ov Seth (coincidence?). And yeah, probably comes up with a bit, but Nergal's always gonna be the main man.

Ah, well, maybe that's where he got the name from, so he can be like

"Nergal named a song after meh!"

And, the drummer I was thinking of is Baal Ravenlock (did the drumming on Behemoth's first few releases).
