Yesterday I was given a set of speakers, a Grundig 4:1 surround system. I'm trying to hook them up to my current stereo system but I'm concerned about the impedance ratings.

The rating on the back of my stereo is 6ohms. The ratings on the speaker set are either 4ohms (central and bass speaker) or 8ohms (left and right speakers).

Which of the speakers, if any, will be safe to use? Initially I thought just to use the 8ohm-rated ones but I can't remember which way around impedance works etc. so some advice would be appreciated.

Cheers.
