what the hell are "push pull pots" i have heard of them but what do they do?

they are used to coil split your pickups. if you have humbucking pickups, you can coil split them, or only use one coil, making them sound like single coils. you use a push-pull pot to engage the split. i hope this helps.

A PUSH-PULL POTENTIOMETER is like a regular pot, but has a double pull double throw switch made onto the back. You can use them as stated for coil tapping, phase switching, or series/parallel, or even to turn on a booster circuit
