I've never recorded drums before and know very little about how to go about doing it. A friend of mine is letting me borrow his mics, but I don't know the best way to set them up. Here's whats available to me:

Four Shure SM57's
Shure SM58
Shure Beta 57A
Shure Beta 58A
Shure Beta 87A
Shure KSM27

I already have the software, firewire interface, mixer etc.

I know that I won't use all of these mics to get a decent drum recording, but I don't know which is best for each part of the set (snare, bass, etc.). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

IF your interface has enough inputs, the mixer is not needed and its suggested that you run without it.

as for mic setup, its a lot of trial and error when it comes to positioning to get the best sound but heres a few guidelines to get you started:
