Is it possible to use a tone pot as a volume pot if i wire it correctly and remove the capacitor? I'm using the 25k ohm pots that come with the EMG 81/85 setup. My bridge volume pot is going bad, but all i have is an extra tone pot. There doesn't appear to be any difference between the vol and tone pots besides the capacitor. Anyone know if this will work and produce the same results as a regular volume pot? Thanks!

its been awhile since I did anything regarding pots, but I think with volume pots your generally looking at 250k/500k pots, and not 25k.

I believe that is usually the case with passive pickups, but the EMG 81/85 are active, and for some reason or another it uses the 25k pots.

With EMGs yea the only difference is the cap. A replacement pot isnt to much couple of bucks.
