I'm posting this thread to see what intro riffs you guys thinks are the best. There are some rules though.

1. Stairway to Heaven, Iron Man, and Smoke on the Water are banned because everyone knows those songs have memorable riffs.
2. All riffs must be SIMPLE riffs, not uber shredding riffs.

1. Stairway to Heaven, Iron Man, and Smoke on the Water are banned because everyone knows those songs have awesome/memorable riffs.

3. Put your top three intro riffs and why they're so awesome.

Anyway, your rules are horrible, therefore I shall negate this thread, and pretend it doesn't exist.

Especially when the tremolo picking comes in and you hear that evil laugh, it sends chills down my spine every time.

2. Laid to Rest - Lamb of God

I'm just gonna point out that LOG asked permission by Testament to use a modified version of the intro from their song Into The Pit in that song. So essentially the intro isn't really theirs, so I don't think it counts. Just pointing it out.

Neighborhood #1(Tunnels)-by Arcade Fire. That's right, I just listed Arcade Fire in a best guitar riff list because it is a killer riff. Its simple but sweet, and it starts off an amazing song which starts off an amazing album.

Wish You Were Here-by Pink Floyd. Once again, its simple, but sometimes that's all you need.

Debaser-The Pixies. Joey Santiago is freakin' sweet.
