I've spent a couple hours searching the forums for some ideas on a interface to do some recording. I'm looking for something in the $200 price range, but can go a little higher if I need to. From what I see these are all good options: Mbox 2 Mini, E-MU 0404, or a Line 6 Toneport UX2. I'll use it to record guitar, bass, and electric drums, but I will usually be playing all the parts so I wont need more than 2 inputs. The biggest concern I have is that I want to run it on Vista and there seem to be problems. I can also use my laptop instead since it is on XP, but I dont know if it is fast enough. Any advice?

Vista is a setback. Generally I would suggest the Mackie Onux Satellite...a nice $200 interface however it doesnt yet work with vista....they are making the drivers at this time from what I know.

Does your desktop have a Firewire port or must you use USB?

If you are stuck with USB, the E-MU 0404 USB2.0 connection interface is a great buy. I am not sure if vista drivers are out but im sure you can check the E-MU site and see for yourself.
