Question about phrasing/rhythmic displacement: Are you supposed to accent the actual rhythmic notes (tempo-wise) or the phrased notes (pattern-wise)?

For example, when playing four-note phrases in a triplet rhythm, do you accent every four notes or three notes?

Or do you simply do either, depending on the feel you're going for?

Which is more common to do?

With that example you've given, I'd accentuate the first note of every set of three. THere isn't really a set rule for everything though, as far as I'm aware.
