hey,
i need some help on picking.
i know where my fingers are on the frets and what i want to do.
but the trouble comes when i try to hit the string.
if it helps.
it place my side of the palm on the end of the bridge when i pick
also, is the pick gauge a problem too.
im using a standerd pick,
( should i use a smaller one if i wanna play heavier music?)

thanks

i use 2 - 3 mm picks, usually stubbys! i don't think its the pick, maybe try a heavier one.

practice really slow and try not to anchor too much. once you have the riff/line/etc down at a slow speed 100% cleanly (i didn't do this at first and now i'm having to correct it very very slowly) then speed up by 5 bpm. rinse and repeat.

3. You're reading now.
5. You didn't notice that there was no #4.
6. You just checked it.
7. Now you're having a lil smile.

slow repetition = the building of muscle memory for proper technique. there's no secret to perfect playing other than practice.

sweet child of mine is tricky for a beging because you have to skip the strings so much. just practice slow

but i thought i was doing something wrong.

If your hands aren't synchronized, you aren't playing fast. The pick hand is almost always slower, so you have to work on that.
