Hey,

I'm planning on buy a relatively cheap bass within the month...

Squier VM J-bass

I might be wanted to remove the frets just for a different feel, sound and experience with the bass... But maybe not (which is why I'm not buying a fretless).

Are there any tutorial videos/websites that would help in case I decided to experiment?

Is there anyone who has done this? Any tips?

If I'm removing the frets off of this bass, how badly will the finger board be damaged,
because it's not ebony.

Tap off the fretboard before you start. Heat up the frets with a soldering iron and then use a certain kind of pliers to take them out. It's not that hard of a job to do. Also don't fill the gaps with wood putty or anything else besides thin wood strips. Use titebond to hold them in.
