Just curious. How long (or for your 1st,2nd,3rd,ect. guitar) did you wait until your first guitar with a tremolo?

Well my first had a vintage trem on it. My 2nd guitar had a LFR and even through it was my 2nd guitar I bought it when I really started to play seriously.

My first: a modded PRS Santana SE, with a floating trem.

I'm hearing a steady *thump thump* from the people above me and I need some porno grooves to play on my bass to give them some background music. Any ideas?

3rd guitar, 4 years into my playing i got my Ibanez 1570, although not for the express purpose of having a floating trem

I like how it holds tune but...it really can be a pain in the backside sometimes just for restringing and balancing etc; i'm looking into getting a tremol-no if I can to lock it in position non-permanently

Well here's my actual problem.

I'm getting my second electric guitar. My first one being a Warlock (check sig).

I''m split between the Jackson SLSMG Soloist, Schecter Synyster, or Schecter C-1 FR Hellraiser.

My senses tell me to go for the Jackson by all means. However I want to familiarize myself with a tremolo as from the looks of it...it looks pretty fun lol. Although I've heard from most that the Jackson outclasses both other guitars in terms of the quality of sound I'm looking for (I enjoy metal and metalcore. Namely A7x, B4MV, Ozzy, CoB)

That's what I'm looking at.

Mine was my second guitar, ESP LTD F-250, got it in december, after 2 years of playing.

Depends on what type of music you play, and how advanced you are in your guitar skills.
I got a cheap one on my first guitar. I personally don't like it when people overuse the whammy bar to make it sound "kewl".
The only reason I use one is if Im soloing and am playing too fast to get a good vibrato in, so I substitute a tremolo vibrato.

it was actually my first guitar as well. I had a BC rich mockingbird NJ series with a floyd rose. it was a pain in the ass, i hated it. now i have a les paul

Don't you think getting a better amp to produce a better sound would be a better idea ?

my first Squier strat had a tremolo, then I got an ESP med a OFR and then an Ibanez Sa2120 which I traded for my Les Paul. After that I had a custom made guitar with a wilkinson tremolo - the best sounding tremolo yet.

Time really doesn't matter. If you feel like you need a trem, go for it. I'd say upgrade your amp though, otherwise you nice expensive new guitar's gonna sound like ass

You can buy a floating tremmed guitar any time man, just make sure you've read about all the procedures and stuff for restringing and tuning them so that you're prepared and know what it requires, it does get pretty simple with some practice; but some bloke got one at christmas time I believe and spent a few weeks complaining miserably about it and how it was broken as he couldn't do it properley

But if you really want to have one then go for it, you'll probably get alot of enjoyment from it

my second guitar. after about 5 years i think. got it cus a lot of the songs i was playing and music i was into used them.

also remember that just cus it says lfr on it dosent mean they are all the same. all the companies that have the FR pattent dont build them to the exact specs, or use the same material used in the original floyds.

if you do get a guitar with a lfr the jackson and shaller made ver. are great. a lot of people dont think the jackson made ones are that great but after setting mine up and everything i only have to slightly tune mine every week or so. If you can get one with an OFR get it!!

i have only played a few guitars with khaler trems and i kinda dug it cus it was a smoother operation but didnt like it cus of the play on it, just felt too loose for my likeing. but they are not that bad.

what you will want to do is try out different model trems if you are able to. see what you like best.

I prefer passive pickups but of the actives sound that much better. Also, I feel like I know too many people with Hellraisers lol. Pretty much how the Warlock is extremely common among b.c. rich owners.

True but I have parents. Parents that will think I'm outside of my mind if I ask them for another guitar too soon.

+1 on Jacksons. The LFR on my RR3 is excellent. I abuse it alot and today is the first time I've retuned it in like 2 months, and only because I was restringing it

yeah as long as you have it set up right they are ****ing awsome. when i got my rr3 i remember not knowing anything on how to tune the bitch or anything. within a week i belive i had the thing set up-intoneated-and a few others thing down. only problem i have is keeping the bar itself tight and sensitive.

my second guitar (a strat copy) had a vintage trem, my third (a charvel charvette) had a licensed floyd rose and the guitar i'm building at the moment will have a wilkinson trem
