what style do you play? if you don't need "TEH BROOTALZ" then maybe a Blackheart or Epi Valve Jr.?

EDIT: go with the Valveking, definitely better than that frontman.

Wait, he wants to play metal at gigs, don't you think the bh5 might not have the distortion he needs? The valveking will have him set for most situations.

^ That's true for sure, but if he really wanted, he could get an OD or distortion, could he not?

Besides, if he mic'ed up his amp, and had an OD, that should be able to carry him through the show.

I still think the VK would suite him better, but then again I've never actually played a blackheart.

slim - you need to take closer look at the Valveking and do NOT get the Frontman.

I have both.

can you point me to/or copy in the review(s) you've read? have you searched on that amp here?

you are gigging right? - will the amp be mike'd?

the BH and Epi are good amps too.

can we assume you can go used too and have access to Craigslist or no?

You won't be gigging with a Blackheart really, it's not loud enough. To gig comfortably, you're looking in the region of 30w valve or 60w Sold State.

I second the used Classic 30.

I would have said the Laney VC30, but fuck me, it's like $1000!

So much cheaper in Britian!

So yeah, I'd go for the Peavey Classic 30!

yeah, if you can swing it, the stock C-30 sounds a lil better than a stock valveking. You'll need an od though. but if you can't strech your budget for that, I'd say valveking. Also, you say you don't know much about amps, HAVE SOMEONE WHO DOES LOOK AT AN AMP BEFORE YOU BUY IT USED!!!

Roland Cube 60 for bells and whistles or the Peavey Valveking for a decent tube amp. The Blackheart isn't really wha the's after here - he wants enough volume for gigging and I suspect a bit more in the way of tonal options.

Aguably the Cube is favourite here - if you're replacing a starter pack amp or similar it's unlikely that you know exactly the kind of sound you want from an amp.
Actually called Mark!
