Im pretty sure everyones got they're own opinion, however I'm looking to get a classical guitar as a gift for a beginnig guitarist. So far, I've read that the yamaha 111 cedar top is a good all around choice. If anyone can give me some insight on this yamaha or another good choice for a classical it would be great! my budget is $300.

Yamaha's have good quality control. Play it before you buy and if you feel it sounds good a beginner will think it sounds great. They don't have an ear developed for that sort of tone differentiation yet, so they couldn't see the difference between a very good and a decent guitar.

As for Yamaha's, if you want to go a bit softer on the buck, C-40 is a nice model to start on.
