Unfortunately, i am not in the position to go and try any pedals out as a decent guitar shop with a large range would be located about 2 hours away from me, so i'll have to rely on opinions here (maybe a few youtube videos). Ive been very interested in tubescreamers to give me a bit extra in solos and fatten/tighten my tone a bit (as my current rig can get a bit trebly). I play mainly rock with bits of hard rock and metal too, through my Laney TT50C. I cant decide between the Ibanez TS9, Maxon OD-9, Maxon OD-808, or the Ibanez TS9DX. Im looking at the OD-9 at the moment as ive heard good things about it, but i find i can never go by the reviews found here. What do owners/people who played these pedals think i should go for?

Maxon's OD pedals are awesome.

It's perfect for tightening up your tone and adding a little more gain.

(I own a Maxon OD-808)

Here is a good article about the history of Tubescreamers:

http://www.analogman.com/tshist.htm

Even though I own an Ibanez RI TS-808 (and love it BTW) for the price...Maxon has a great pedal and almost everyone says sound about the same as the more expensive TS-808!

Maxon as they're the originals.

the old maxons tubesreamers (80s/90s) are better than the ibanez tubescreamers. if you can get an old/used one, it's better than buying the newer models. why not the Ibanez TS808 instead of 9 or 9dx?

if you can't snag an old tube screamer, i say go for the newer ibanez TS.

Yeah, it's quote for truth; I own one and they're pretty good, the low gain sounds are pretty nice and the clean boost is great.
