Rightio Im lookin at gettn a new guitar. Ive been saving since earlier this year and was lookin at gettn a white falcon but im not gonna have enough. I live in New Zealand so it's hard to import and buying locally is VERY EXPENSIVE. I will have about 2 grand by the end of the month (just over 1500 US)
So i have two options:
1) My sister is moving to Canada for 6 months in 5 weeks so Im thinking of ordering a guitar from lamusic.ca and getting it sent to her then my dad will bring it back when he visits her in August.
I was looking at either of these guitars
Epi Casino or SG faded
Pros
- Cheaper
Cons
- Cant try b4 buy
- Have to wait till August to get it.
OR
2) Get one locally
I saw a nice Fender Tele i think it was either an American or American Deluxe for around 2100 and was thnking about getting that but if i buy locally ill try out everything in my pricerange.
Pros
-can try out
-they have fender teles
Cons
-expensive

I like RHCP, GNR, Foo Fighters, Muse and heaps of other bands. Mostly play rock, funk, blues and a bit of jazz and a bit of hard rock that crosses over into almost metal.
I already have an Epiphone LP100 as a backup and a Custom built Fender Strat
opinions? Flaming?

I would get the SG faded. Most of the bands up there use humbuckers, and John Frusciante (sp?) used an SG on some stuff, so your best bet would be that.

And go on Youtube and see how things sound, you might not be able to play them, but it'll give you an idea of how they sound!

I'd get a tele sent over for you. I did that on mine, got a Fender American Deluxe Ash Telecaster sent to me by my uncle (who lives in NJ) from America for EXACTLY half price inc. shipping, case etc. Worse exchange now but still well worth it.

yeah i was thinking that but i can't find any canadian guitar websites that stock teles.
lamusic has one tele and its like the bottom end fender you can get. I would get it from somewhere like music123 but they dont seem to ship to canada. Maybe ill have a look for a US one that sends to Canada. There aren't ANY websites that i can find with good prices that will ship to NZ so that options out

Don't order it. She can go out to a guitar shop, buy it, and send it over to you from there in the mail (just bubble wrap it properly). That's what my uncle did from the US.

With that money, order in US, get sent to Canada and have your dad bring it back. For that cash, I personally would get an Ibanez JS1200 or an Ernie Ball Musicman JP6 both awesome guitars and if your dad brings back you wont have to worry about customs fees.

In the US, $1500 is a lot of money in guitar land. I know how you feel about local prices, its the same in Australia

Aye, it is risky. My uncle knows absolutely nothing about guitars and I was thinking the whole way while it was in the post 'he's done something wrong!!!' but he didn't and even though I didn't play it first, everything about it was perfect. Just as long as she'd loosen the strings and that and do everything you're meant to, it would be fine.

I also got him to phone order it for me on black friday, more lovely win .

i reccomend broadening your horizons a bit and checking out some other brands, other than just the generic really well known ones. gibson and fender are famous because of their history, not because of their quality.
