So in a few weeks ill be leaving the us where I have lived my whole life.
I was told I couldn't bring my electric guitar/amp with me because of the different power voltage/outlet. I was wondering if their was like an adapter, or something I could buy that would allow me to bring my stuff.

if anybody has any other tips or any cool things to do in england, im all ears.

thanks

Your guitar will be fine. The amp, perhaps not. In the UK, mains electrical supply is 230V at 50Hz, whereas in the US, it is(according to wikipedia anyway) 120V at 60Hz. Certainly, many appliances just need a simple plug adaptor(2 pin - 3 pin, available damn near everywhere), but perhaps your best bet would be to contact the manufacturer of your amp and ask them.
#4
yea there is an adapter u can buy at like any electronics store. its a conversion thing like at this website:

here

hope all goes well with the move...i lived in england for about a couple years before i moved to the states and although the weather sux a lot of the time there is a fair amount of things to do!

You can get adapters all over the place. Hell at least bring your guitar. that'll work anywhere.
You amp might work on a kettle lead so just buy a UK one here.
Anyway, what kind of music do you like, wanna form a band?

You can get adapters in Airports.

I went to London last November to see the sex pistols....all i have 2 say is London is very overrated and all the attractions are cramped.

Good Luck.

Try living in Yorkshire and having a southern accent like mine.
I walk into a pub and try to order something an no one can understand me. You'll get used to it in the end don't worry.
I hope it doesn't seem, like I'm young, foolish, and green.

Just act grateful that the british saved you in WWII, Korea, and legitimised your illegal imperialist invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. Then everyone will be cool.

But no, in all seriousness, 90% of british people love americans. If you have a good accent, you'll get laid 3 times a day, every day you're here.

You don't just need an adapter, you also need a voltage transformer from 110v to 220~240v or else your amp'd get fried.

Got bought out by Turnkey,so it's just the top floor for Soho Soundhouse now.
And the company that owns Turnkey have shut 10 of 26 shops plus the loss of their website or something.
I doubt Soho Soundhouse will be going much longer.

Zavvi*formerly virgin megastores, and the shop underneath is called Sound Control.
I have a feeling there is also one in Piccadilly Circus, though I've never been in there, just seen the guitars and amps in the windows when I was working down there.

Where abouts in Kent are you from? I'm from near Ashford!

On topic: the guitar'll work wherever you are

Not so sure about the amp though; Googling it'd be your best bed
