if it's mostly cob, then try to find a used 5150 (will be VERY hard or almost impossible for that price in england, though). or if you save up a hundred more quid, then possibly (from the reviews i've seen on here) a Laney Vh combo. or maybe a JCM 900 (i think i've seen somewhere on UG awhile ago that children of bodom used a marshall on their last record).

Laney LC30/VC30 with a sepertate pedal for metal.
And Peavey C30 with a " " " ".

Edit: Ignore that, i read that as if you're more blues oreintated.

Cehck bugera out, they have a good copy of the 6506 with from what i hear a nicer clean tone.

Also the new kustom tube looks promising.

You could some form of Laney combo, such as the VC50 (NOT 15 or 30) combo (will have to go used),TT, etc.

yeah the laney VC50 is basivly a 50W VH combo (u wont b able to find nething called a VH combo) and very different to the other VC combos (apart from the VC100 which is basicly the same). i got a vc50 and its very good and VERY versatile itll last you even if u drastically change ur music style.

the VC50 / VC100 are discontinued so u will have to go used regardless of price.
