My girlfriend of 3 years broke up with me yesterday and I have been playing my guitar a lot. She took a crap on my heart and music is the only thing that helping right now. When you guys are feelin ****ty what kind of music do you play. Ive been playing a lot of blues but it just doesnt seem to help that much. What songs would you play if you were in my position ?

I play sad songs.
It doesn't help, but it's the only music that I can stand to hear, or play, when I'm sad.
#4
Man that sucks

I wouldn't play the guitar, though. I'd be talking with some friends about it.

I can't yet express emotion in music, for I have not the ability to do so. At the moment I just play one of the few songs I'm attempting to learn.

personally, when I'm really feeling down like that, my mind is just...really stressed. and I can't really concentrate on music, it just becomes background music that I'm not really paying attention to, so it doesn't matter what kind of music it is...if that makes sense lol

I play It Must've Been Love by Roxette. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

Then I put it on 'shuffle' with Wonderful Tonight by Clapton.

+a number in between 1 and a million.

Yeah, this one, especially the acoustic, ALTHOUGH, I listen to them both a lot anyway

But as for playing, just whatever comes to you naturally I suppose - I don't really express myself emotionally through the guitar yet

I sigged that for some reason.

I'd say Since I've been loving you by Zep, or just throw on some Tegan and Sara and get drunk. That always helps, even though I don't drink.

Or go busking and play really sad songs, that gets good money

Westbound Train = Good stuff
Play along while you listen to it.

What I usually do when I'm in a ****ty mood is just really loud, fast, hard, incoherent shredding.
Just really high random notes all ****ing over.
It usually just gets my stress out
And it wipes out my energy so I really don't have enough energy to feel like **** anyway.
Then a nap sounds pretty good.

If you wanna feel better, then the best way to do it is to work up to listening or playing to something that'll make you happy

Like, start with something that's pretty soft, but not overly sad, and if it cheers you up a bit then move onto something that's a bit happier

Then eventually listen to something that just gets you hyperhappy and makes you wanna get up and do something!
Some people wait a lifetime, some simply accept...

...Some of us crash land, some of us eject...

...Some restore the blood flow, some just let it go and bleed...

...Some of us obsess, some move on to something new

for those who have been saying layla, im gonna one up you with bell bottom blues. much sadder

TS, i cant really play so well, but that sucks man. i found when i was in a similar situation my friends really helped. go out and get some fast food with them, and just try not to think about it.

I can convey my emotions somewhat through playing. Unfortunately my playing isn't developed to the point where my fingers can just lead themselves, but I can still convey sadness, happiness, and pissed-offedness to a certain point

when i'm feelin' down or angry or anything, i play (and listen to) the loudest, fastest, heaviest metal that i can think of.

EDIT: to the guy like 2 or so posts before me, Rick Rolling is against the rules isn't it? Might wanna take that down before you get warned or something bro.
