Studio Gibson Les Paul w/ EMG 81/85 Pup set, wanting to play metal and similar, cheers. I've always been a fan of marshalls amps but I am willing to jump ship

Can you specify what type of metal, or different bands to give us a better idea of what you're looking for.

Check out some Splawn amps. Erock503 and Riffhead have clips of the QuickRod and Nitro in their profiles, I believe.

^I'd let a pro look at it. Once you get into the technicalities of screws...well, it's just a place you don't want to be, friend.

I'd say to look into the EvH 5150 III too You can afford the head for $2000. Much tighter gain and heavier then the previous 5150/6505's. It's no longer made by Peavey too. The Splawn amps are a good choice too, along with the Bogner Uberschall.

Krank Revolution...God those things sound sexy.
Can't go wrong with a Dual/Triple Rectifier either.
