So I was at my friends house
And we ended up at one of HER friends houses
I only agreed to go because I was under the impression we were going to have cupcakes and watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
BUT NOO
The cupcakes were under cooked (it's okay, I can't eat cupcakes anyway)
And we ended up watching the movie "Rest Stop"
The movie was terrible....
It went NO WHERE
Like...more no where then House of Wax (which was only good because Paris Hilton died)

There was plot holes big enough to fit a small giraffe into...and they weren't spooky horror movie plot holes, they were just terrible ones.

Anyway
I wouldn't suggest seeing it
But too anyone who HAS seen it
what did you think?

PS
If you did like the movie, your argument is NULL.VOID!

Oh that's right, I need to make a separate thread to discuss my day.

Cupcakes were just.. a plus. I might've had some, I might not have. *shrug* they wouldn't KILL me to easy. Maybe they would have made the night better if they weren't under cooked, haha

Oh, and how come people post ridiculous **** in the pit all the time.
So I ask for some opinions on a movie (with some background) and everyone's like "****off"

True.
I've never been to a forum where the people didn't suck.
So when I started finally checking out UG forums, everyone actually seemed to be pretty cool.
So it's either I've just been proven wrong, or just the b*stards come out at night. *shrug*

undercooked cupcakes sounds like cupcake mix, which is delicious. why wouldnt you just eat them?

You could have simply asked "hey, has anybody heard of this movie and what are your opinions on it?" But instead you told us an incredibly long and irrelevant story.

To be honest with you sir, your story was set up in such a format that it just begged for offbeat replies. The kinds of replies you get relies heavily on how the initial post is worded, set up, etc.

Anyway, on behalf of the Pit, I would like to apologize for our behavior. Maybe we could all get together sometime and have a rousing discussion about politics and whatnot over coffee?

Rest Stop you say? No, I have not had the opportunity to see that film yet. I may have to add it to my Netflix queue just out of pure curiosity.

Besides the plot holes and it going "no where," what specifically did you hate about it, and what was it even about?

Well I'm not really a fan of movies of that genre in general, but usually I find them, sometimes just a LITTLE enjoyable. Or at least I can make fun of them...nothing to make fun of them.
I mean, the main character was really stupid. Yea I know, it's just a movie, and people are always stupid in movies. But at one point, the girl is hiding in the woods, so the guy drives onto this path in the woods, but he obviously can't see her. What does she do? She runs into his path...
Oh, and her hands are covered in gasoline and she lights a match...
why? I have no idea. But her hands didn't go up in flames (sadly)
That and the camera work was terrible, and there was a TERRIBLY unnecessary sex scene in the beginning. Not that the scene itself was unnecessary, the camera work in it was...
The movie just seemed to kind of HAPPEN...that's a terrible explanation, but I guess you might understand if you saw it.

EDIT:
Oh, and it's about this beat up old rest stop that if you go to, this guy tries to torture you, or kill you or something. And it's apparently been happening since about 1972-ish.
Boring as hell.
The girls I was with didn't even think it was scary. Just gross at a few points.
#25
Ah ok. So it seems like the same old same old, just in another setting. I'll probably give it a watch anyway just out of boredom.
#27
Haha yea, I guess it's a good way to kill some bored time for a little while.
This is a user comment from imdb if you're interested. I couldn't agree more:

Young couple on the road, minding their own business and having casual sex in their car during broad daylight. Yet, suddenly, they're being menaced and terrorized by a deranged psychopath in an old and rusty pick-up truck. Hmm, where have I seen this premise before? Oh yeah, now I remember, we've seen this a THOUSAND times before already, and approximately nine hundred and ninety-nine of the other cases were much better than "Rest Stop"! This weak and pitiable new movie is insulting even to the intellect of the most undemanding horror fans, as it doesn't feature a single original twist or memorable gimmick. It's very sadistic and nasty, but every teenkill-slasher flick is sadistic and nasty nowadays, so that's no real surprise anymore, neither. The absolute main problem with this production is the incredibly large amount of dumb plot holes and meaningless sub plots. Writer/director John Shiban damn well realized that the ultra-thin basic storyline nearly wasn't enough to fill a whole movie with, and thus he stuffs up his film like a Thanksgiving turkey with imbecile and nonsensical padding material. Nicole's boyfriend vanishes at an abandoned and filthy rest stop in California. Killing off her character right away wouldn't result in a very long movie and thus she subsequently encounters a motor home family of freaks, suffers from visions (?) in which she talks to the deranged killer's previous victims and she has deeply emotional (and boring) conversations with a police officer who just won't die even though a truck ran over him...twice! The dumb sub plots never lead anywhere and they're definitely the most pathetic and desperate attempts to stretch a movie's length I've ever seen. Instead of all the pointless padding, Shiban should have paid more attention to building up tension and make his lead characters a little more likable. Jaimie Alexander's character Nicole is an annoying and brainless girl, and you won't really care whether she'll survive the ordeal or not. Her boyfriend Jesse as well as the cop are both whining losers and their brutal deaths still weren't painful enough, if you ask me. I counted exactly three sequences, all including torture and gratuitous mutilation, that were gory and exciting enough to bring a sadist smile on my face. That's still way too few for a nowadays horror movie. Basically, "Rest Stop" is simply a miserable attempt to cash in on the success of such films like "Wolf Creek" and "Hostel", but you're better off watching the originals. This was the first film of the new production company called 'Raw Feed'. They're promoting themselves as the new name in great horror, but they'll have to come up with something much better than "Rest Stop" if they want us to believe that.

Nope, haven't seen Joyride. Although my sister's boyfriend thought I might've been talking about it too, so I guess they might be alike.
I'll have to check that one out!
#30
Yeah, Joyride is about some kids who are going home for vacation and are stalked by this psychotic truck driver. It really shows how incredible of an actor Paul Walker can be...
