My dumbass friend was playing my Epiphone G-400, which is very top-heavy, and I guess he didn't realize it, and he let go or something, sending the top portion of my guitar crashing towards the ground. When it hit the ground, the neck just snapped off from the body. They are now 2 separate pieces. So, what I was wondering is if there is a way to fix it, if I should even bother going to Guitar Center and getting them to fix it, or if it is unfixable. They look like they were put together as 2 separate pieces, so I think it may be able to be fixed. I really don't have the money for a new guitar, and neither does he, but depending on if it can be fixed and how much that would cost, I think we can manage. Thanks for taking the time to read this, if you can help, awesome, if not, no worries. BTW, the 2 pieces look clean cut, I can slide the neck back into the body, its just that I can't get it to stay, and I wasn't sure if there was a professional method to doing this.

so its set neck then im assuming? or bolt on, either way shouldnt be too expensive if they just slipped out, if woods all cracked and **** then i dunno

I had a set neck guitar that broke at the headstock which i repaired myself for only the price of titebond glue. If it is broken after the nut damaging the fretboard area i think your ****ed but before the nut is an easy fix if its a clean break. So like the above posters said post pics.

And dont bring it to guitar center support a small local shop and you wil probably recieve a better price and service. You dont want some 18 year old trainiee fixing your guitar you want some old guy who owns his own business for 40 years.

Depends on the break. The down side to set neck guitars is the problem of replacing the neck if ever needed. If your lucky the neck can be glued back together if not its firewood. But I think you have learned a valuable lesson about letting others use your equipment.

Agreed but untill then i would rather have an old timer do mine. I also believe in supporting small business insted of corporations whenever possible. When you guys open your own shops ill be one of the guys who comes to you instead of the big marketing empire known as guitar center.

G400 should be set neck. I doubt Guitar Center will do much, although if that's the only choice you might have to take it to them. You might want to post some pics as mentioned so that we can see how "clean" the break is. Generally some wood glue will do the trick with some clamps, although I'd still take it to a guitar shop. Where are you located?

by me they have an on site technician that does a bunch of repair and refret work... but even still i dont know if they do that caliber of repair...

still no pics!?!

Uhm, if your asshole friend broke it, it is HIS job to fix it, or pay for it to get fixed. You shouldn't care if he doesn't have the money, he should find a way to get it... wow. That is why we don't let mildly retarded people hold expensive things. Anyway, to glue it back on, use titebond and clamp overnight.

Pics would help.

yea it's your friends problem. Give him that guitar and make him buy you a ****ing 'nother one! That or make him get it fixed. I never let anyone play my guitars b/c stupid **** like that happens and something does happen... The clever comes out and their hand is chopped off! That or they pay for it.

If you take it to GuitarCenter they won't do anything about it. Same thing happened to me, but with me Epi Les Paul Standard. You could ask who they would recommend though.

Yeah, I think pictures would be the best thing right now. That way we could:

a) gawk at it and be glad it isn't us
b) laugh
c) better assess the damage
d) laugh

Yeah, I agree. Unless you a) have a valid reason not to post pics, b) no one wants to see them (which I doubt would be the case), or c) your predicament is all that interesting/funny...

Pictures should be mandatory.
