My pickups basically burnt out 10 minutes ago, so it's time to purchase some new ones.

I'm wondering what would be the best for a metal/funk/jass/punk player would be. I want some very versatile pickups that give rich tone but also a deep driving sound.

All I know about my bass is it's a Fernandes bought in '87. Damn second handers with no documentation.

Would $300 AUS cover what I want? If not just choose any pickup you think will do the job.

Cheers!

+1. We need to know what kind of pickups you are looking for (single coils, split coils etc.).

Hope this is enough. If not just ask for what specific shot you need.

Those look like soapbars, though they may be humbuckers. Hmm. Try looking through the websites of brands like Seymour Duncan, DiMarzio and EMG, and see which ones will fit for a start.
