Can I achieve a step flange effect with my ME-50 or is it a specific effect???

I don't think that the ME-50 has a step flange effect.
But since you own one, why don't you read the manual and mess around with it a little until you know what it's capable of?

put it on the harmonist mode, put the 1st knob into whatever key you want, take the 3rd knob and turn it all the way to the right, then hit a note and rapidly move the middle knob back and forth. not really a step flange, but its pretty cool sounding
