Sounds creepy. Kinda cool. But not sure I really like it. I usually like old school death metal, but this band gave me a headache. Sides which, they don't sound like European Metal at all.

Well dude, do you like a lot of doom metal? If not, then why would you like this after only one listen?

I dun know, it's basically gives me an early Cathedral vibe with some Asphyx thrown in there, and some of the coolest sounding vocals I've ever heard.

The band name Hooded Menace reeks of wiggery, I'm sorry, but you can't deny that it does. However the bands you compare it to makes it intriguing...
O what a disgrace if such a despised and base race, which worships demons, should conquer a people which has the faith of omnipotent God and is made glorious with the name of Christ!

Jesus what a terrible, terrible name.

Sounds cool though, some parts are like early Mourning Beloveth.

I want to try that while playing the opening riff to "Tempting Time".

0-0-0-13-0-0-0-0-13 or something like that alalalala but It;s so heavy and off time and awesome and you could not f**k anyone to it.

They don't sound like European Metal at all? They're doom for God's sake, which originated from Europe!

Sounds good to me, I'm adding them to my list of bands to check out.

UncleCthulu, from what I can divulge. What's on the myspace is all that they have out right now. A two song 7" and a cover track from the theme of some horror movie thats coming out on a compilation. They have an album coming out on Razorback Records later this year, that is almost all recorded.

Hahahahaha! I never thought of that. That's hillarious. Nah, the name is a reference to the Blind Dead video series from the 80s. It was bunch of undead Templars or something that wore hoods and killed people or something like that. It's also referenced in their sweet logo.

I s'pose if you don't get the reference it is certainly a silly name. Course it's no more silly than 60% of bands out there (especially lately).

Oh I know Blind Dead, I didn't think of that lol. I can see why Razorback would pick these guys up now haha

They get props for coming from Joensuu.

I liked the music, but the band name sucks. Let me guess, it's your band?

To be fair, Agalloch doesn't sound like an American band.

and doom metal from Finland is never a bad thing
I’m not the man I used to be, I... I can’t go back to Arkham.

I... I should return to Arkham.

Among the churchyard’s mouldering stones I recognise a name – my own.
I have come home to Arkham.

I like it too. But I don't know how much staying power it has, it's a bit bland. It isn't really sticking in my head, eeen though I'm currently listening to it, so I don't know what chance it has after I turn it off.

I'll listen to it a few more times, since I share their influence of scantily clad women running through graveyards.

"The band recorded a 2-song promo demo, titled "The Eyeless Horde" and sent it to the American horror Death Metal label Razorback Records and were quickly signed to the label without question! The band is now currently writing songs for their debut album to be titled "Fulfill The Curse", which will be released sometime in 2008! "

There ya go. Write some straightforward death/doom, add some creepy synths, and send it to Razorback.

Probably. Is there a list where you can see which label "represents" which genre? Or just look at the bands signed to which label... Meh...

Pfft... I wish I was in Hooded Menace. Nah I live in New Jersey, they're from Finland. Plus, my own doom band has a way more stonerish vibe to it.

And labeling music American versus European is kinda silly now that we have the internet to give music to everybody.

The main dude from Hooded Menace is also the main dude in Vacant Coffin, who were already signed to Razorback. Razorback has a tendency to not really sign bands, but individual artists (Maniac Neil and his buddies being the prime example). Although technically they don't sign artists at all, they just agree to put out individual albums.

Although I have to say, this band doesn't have any creepy synths that I can hear.

I keep expecting it would be a CoB worship band.

I just gotten round to getting this album after working my way through a backlog of stuff from the past months that I needed to listen to. Anyway, the album rules, as does the ep. Fantastic.
#26
Fulfill the Curse is extremely good. They really execute the death/doom formula with near perfection.

This is excellent material ,though not quite as captivating as their influences.

Acid Witch do the same thing. Have the some of the same members too

Hmm...Anyways, they're really a great band though if you're into this kind of stuff.

I've been listening to these guys a little while now... they are fucking awesome! I renounce my earlier comments in this thread... this band is Satanly

New album is freaking phenomenal! A bit more melodic with loads of shredding guitar solos, while retaining the B-horror movie atmosphere. One of the best of the year so far!

Back to the band, I actually haven't picked up their new album, but judging from their style/last album, I can probably expect around the same overall feel. Except with more color.

Will be listening to it tonight.

It gets the Penisaur Seal of Approval. Need I say more?
