Better than hooked on crack, I suppose. I'd rather know my kids are safe at home beating their meat than out in the world robbing old women for their crack fix.

mahogany is probably a little too dark sounding, you probably want more of the 'middy' woods, mines basswood and i love it

Any one of them is fine. Yngwie uses guitars with maple necks and alder bodies, Steve Vai uses Basswood bodies and maple necks, but Buckethead uses Les Pauls and those have mahogany bodies.

It all depends on the tone you want, one is not inherently better at shred. Mahogany is going to be the darkest and Maple is going to be the brightest.

you would probably want to look into a basswood guitar.

The wood in my pants?

In all seriousness, Basswood. It's a fairly neutral wood and should give you the tone you're looking for.

it depends on what type of amp you are going to use, as well as you pickups.
i wouldnt want a bright amp, bright pups, and bright wood.
