I'm pretty new to guitar but I though that the magnets in pickups were synchronized to each specific string? But if that's true I seem to have a hard time finding left handed pickups....so if they do need to be left handed are there any good sites out there that offer them?

They are the same thing. There may be some that are synchronized, but generally you can use any.

You put it in upside down obviously...

I assume so anyway I am a lefty BTW

It completely depends on what pickups, fender makes a LOT of single coils that have individual pole pieces for each string (made for either right or left handed guitars). Active pickups aren't the same. Emg's and the like can be mounted for either right or left handed guitars either way.

it depends on the pickup. lots of humbuckers can be either, most single coils are either right or left handed

Theres a guy here locally that plays for a metal band thats left handed and left the strings and pickups just like they were for a right handed guitar and just flipped the guitar over. Its pretty amazing watching him play and pretty trippy as well...

Never heard of a lefthanded pickup. The pole pieces are of uniform size and arent marked as for individual strings or anything. Every lefty guitar I have has the exact same pickups as a righty guitar, same orientation. Only difference is if the bridge pickup is angled like a strat then it would be backwards.
