there is a bit more to it , he played guitar in pantera and when phil hit rock bottem and pantera split and dimebag made a side project called damageplan (or that came before they split im not 100% sorry) and he was shot when performing with them n december 2004 by a ex marine who was disgruntled by pantera splitting up.

I am not a fan of Pantera, but I can see why they are popular, although I think a lot of their fame is because of Dimebag's death.

Also, don't trust everything you read on the internet, so I think asking was not a bad idea.
