Is there anyway to separate the bass from the rest of the song? I want to start learning by ear but it's hard for me to learn without the bass all by itself.

You could always try Guitar Pro, then isolate the bass track.

If you know anything about audio editing programs, you could always do a center channel extractor then EQ it to get only the low frequencies, then all you have to do is distinguish the bass from the bass drum beats!

....

Pretty easy if you know what you're doing, if not, google.
