I am wondering what would be some challaging music to learn on a seven string?

Something good.....
I know Korn uses a seven string but i don't wanna play Korn all day

If its challenging 7-string stuff you want then look up Nevermore (I'm sure they'ved already been mentioned) and Unearth.

Don't just look at 7-string songs, look at downtuned songs as well! Three that come to mind instantly are Queens of the Stone Age (C standard), Between the Buried and Me (C# standard), Elliot Smith (D Standard).

All That Remains plays in D-Standard, they'll keep you busy for while .
Got a question about Baritone guitars? Feel free to PM me.

Thanks to UG, I converted from Metalcore to some "real" Metal.

Nevermore, some Dream Theater, Scar Symmetry, Mercenary (I think), Meshuggah (they put any other rhythm guitarists to shame... and they're also great lead players. Aqcuired taste though). Nile, Hypocrisy, also! look at bands who play in B Standard. ie: Amon Amarth, At the Gates, Soilwork, etc.

I know some more, but I'm drawing a blank, atm.

I cannot for the life of me understand why someone would buy a seven string unless they already had a load of stuff they wanted to play with it.
Actually called Mark!

Same here. To me it's like, "Okay I bought this new sweet guitar! ..... WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH IT?"

Anyway, tune to drop A and have fun playing Nile and Meshugga.

Muse - Citizen Erased and Dream Theater - The Glass Prison are probably the best songs ever written for a seven string. DT has come up a lot already but Muse hasn't.

Yea I use a plugin for winamp that brings a songs pitch down as many steps as you like and I play Arch Enemy, In Flames etc...

Theres also the other stuff people have mentioned. I'd say Dream Theater, Meshuggah and NEvermore are the most complex out of the bands been said already.

Learn it, it's seriously awesome. Some of the best sounding (albeit simple) tapping parts I ever heard.
