OK, I heard an awesome song on the radio a few days ago, and unfortunately, I have neither the song title nor the artist name. However, I know it is a fairly well-known song and one line of the chorus MAY be "I'm travelin doooowwn this broken road" which is then followed by a guitar riff. In C, the notes of that line are: C C C C (Im travelin) D--- (dooown) D Bb A G A (this bro-oken road). Those notes are correct however the lyrics might not be. Please help me find this song..

Edit: It's a fast song and it's NOT Boulevard of Broken Dreams

can you narrow it to a particular type of music?

It's rock, definitely, probably the 80s, from the sound of it

I found something that might match it.

"Broken" by Tears For Fears. It's somewhat fast and sounds like 80s to me.

Can you give us some more lyrics?

No, unfortunately those are the only lyrics I remember. But if it helps, the very next line uses the same notes and rythym, and is followed by another guitar riff. Also, the songs ends with a fairly lengthy guitar solo.
