Click link ... takes a moment to load because it loads a 1 mb sound demo. Click on a red arrow next to Classic Stack or British Modern and then click "Dry" to hear the tone without the stompbox. It's an awesome tone and I'm trying to figure out what is behind it.

I tried to find something in multi effects last night that sounded like this but couldn't get it just right. The closest I could get was using either a Dual Rectifier or JCM900 with the gain low, mids scooped, and treble down. Seems too like there might be some sort of effect like maybe a noise gate swell or something.

yeah, like above. probably clean (just tweak the settings until you've got the right one) or maybe some compressor

Tried my guitar on different pickups direct to the amp (no modeling or effects) but wasn't able to produce that tone last night. Maybe some compressor is what was missing.
