Well, my guitar teacher tells me that I should go to GIT. I was just wondering if anyones been there before. Is it worth going? Will going there actually help me get a career in music?

I thought this would be a thread by an American asking what "git" meant. I am disappointed.

I'm sad now. I love the word git. my friends used to yell teatime at me when I called them bloody gits.

TS, you make me sad.

I wouldn't call what we have here on the Bass Forum a mentality. It's more like the sharing part of an AA meeting.

I can only give a disclaimer:

Being a performance major is excruciatingly tough.

...modes and scales are still useless.

And a fifth
TO = used for expressing motion or direction toward a point, person, place, or thing approached and reached, as opposed to from

TWO = the number 2

TOO = in addition; also; furthermore; to an excessive extent or degree

Too much competition
Not that much demand
Requires a zealous perseverance and dedication that a lot of students find out they don't have when they've already decided on being a performance major.

What this man said

And you better be damn good at what you do.

Otherwise you end up like the rest of the GIT majors, working in small guitar shops and giving guitar lessons to 5 year olds for $20 an hour.

Well, I was actually thinking about possibly being a producer. Can you major in that kind of thing there?

Yeah, Xiaoxi is right. I was planning on going after high school, but after I visited the school and talked to many of the instructors I realized how difficult it would be to make it through such an intensive program and (even more so) find satisfying work afterwards. I'm not trying to discourage you, but you really need to be 100% into it and well prepared if you're going to do it. Not to mention the high costs of attending.

being an A&R seems interesting, anyone know anything more about that field?
