Anyone seen this movie?

If so, what do you think of it?

I'm watching it as we speak on film4. I like the way it faces racism head on, instead of avoiding it like so many other films.

Also, Inb4 THIS IS SPARTAA

Yep, I bought it on Pirate Copy I rarely do that, only when I really want to see a film. I really enjoyed it tbh. For a low-budget film, it was very well written and planned out. Plus, as you said, it hits racism head on, giving it the controversial edge that high budget films like American History X and Romper Stomper had.

Dead man's shoes is better, but it's a good movie. Just not Shane Meadows best.

Did you watch Dead Man's Shoes? Or that not been on yet?

Both are amazing films, I love them.

I thought that This IS Engalnd was very good, i think they got emotions across very well in the case of the kid and made me feel sorry for him. The thing i dont like so much is the amount of racism in it!

Yeah, the strange thing is, the kid had never acted before in his life!

I think the amount of racism shown in the film is there to make a point..

Thats what life was like for people of different races then, and it would've been a worse form of racism for the film to shy away from that.

This is England is a good movie. I do think American History X is stronger but for a low budget film it holds its own.

Really? I thought the boy did a good job.

I suppose yeah, but i dunno what it is. It's just that the lengths they go to makes England look a bit bad lol. I suppose it did happen and the fact that it is not hidden is good.

Oh no deny that. He did a great job.

But yeah, he'd never acted before in his life. He had also been banned from his school play for bad behaviour, and demanded £5 just to turn up for the film's auditions.

i went to see it when i was doing media for a-levels because we were encouraged to see british movies. I thought it was really good but really sad at the same time. it's one of those films i thought was really good but I never wanna see it again.

It sounds really lame but alot of the best films are strangely like that, in my opinion.

I never really understood the "I love this film I could watch it every day, infact I watch it at least once a month" type comments. I dunno... and I am someone who likes routine quite a bit!

Aww damn, I forgot that was on.

Some one from my college was in that film, she's the girl who gets off with the kid.

My mate let her have a drag of his fag so I've constantly been teasing him that he vicariously got off with a little kid.
