Carlo Demoniconi.
For sure.
The Koyunbaba pieces, all of them are pure gold.
Specifically Koyunbaba IV, Presto.
I suggest everyone look him up.

AJ Minette (formerly of The Human Abstract) is a student of classical guitar, and he wrote some pretty awesome acoustic parts throughout their first album.

(I made mention of this because of my lack of knowledge in the field of classical guitarists, btw.)

Wow, only one classical guitarist has been named.

Anyways, my favorite classical guitarist (or simply guitarist for that matter) is John Williams. As cliche as it sounds, I just love everything about the way he plays:

EDIT: a few more were named...

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL pieces. I know 3 of the 4 movements, and they mesmerize me. Every. Single. Time.

Also, Roland Dyens is another good one:

I think he used to be a jazz musician.

David Tanenbaum is also great if you want to listen to the more modern composers.

And I love Dominic Frasca's music. He's a very "liberal" classical guitarist, technically speaking:

Andy McKee =/= a classical geetar player rofl.

Also, John Williams I guess. I'm not too knowledgeable about classical guitar, though. Paco de Lucia is pretty cool too but he's more flamenco. woop woop.

I do love this CD I have of Julian Bream going through the history and evolution of Spanish guitar, great thing to listen to. Obvioulsy that's slightly different.

Julian Bream & John Williams - Fernando Sor - Fantasie Op 54

EDIT: I know i'm not a strictly classical guy, but WHATEVS LOLZ

Also, what makes me like Bream more is that he group up with jazz, was never afraid to play it. He has a proper holistic approach to music.

+1 to the John Williams mention. One of the most well-known and prolific for a reason, he's definitely brilliant and masterful.
