Guthrie Govan

He didn't actually study at any music colleges. He's taught and is teaching as some schools though, GIT being one of them.

Don't quote me on this but I was led to believe that Matt Tuck and some of the other members of Bullet For My Valentine went to college studying music.
Also, I heard the guys in Boston went to MIT or some school thereabouts.

Really? That's interesting, I didn't expect that at all, but then again - he does have some really cool compositional stuff going on in some tunes.

He went there for political science I believe, not a music course.

As for Guthrie, while I don't believe he attended a university for music I know he teaches at several, so he can certainly read music, and from everything I've seen with him he knows an amazing bit about theory.

I go to university for music, I'm studying jazz guitar at the moment. It's really an amazing experience, my playing has shot through the roof.

Didn't Joe Satriani study music theory in college?

So im also asking any other guitarist who went to college, even if its not music.
I give these musicians props for managing their time to be able to play guitar and also do school at the same the time.

Did they have to have studied music at college/uni? Because I can think of plenty of educated guitarists (Tom Morello, Brian May, Matt Bellamy, Thom Yorke, etc.)
I play by my own rules. And I have one rule; There are no rules... but if there are, they're there to be broken. Even this one.

Confused? Good.
