Cherish The Void

My comatose eyes drift away again,
sailing into a perplexed sunset
like a half-way house of sanctity
that I can half-call home.

And repose returns to comfort
the personification of chaos
in one smooth transition
from start to stun
bringing the relief of depletion
to a man whose days have begun
being measured in ohms.

But just as fast as a smile was cast
I return to a world of painful radiance
as though I were here all along,
hypnotized by the orb that has pulled a U-turn
counting down the day backwards yet again.

I wish that sleep wasn’t the only thing
that kept me alive.
