Ok, so I have a Randall B 100 bass amp...it looks like I guess 100 watts...

in the back is a plug that says "preamp output"...

does this mean I could plug headphones into that?

I think, try it.

Does it have a "poweramp input" hole too? If so, it's for the effects loop. Personally, I wouldn't try it - I'm not sure if you can fry your headphones with just the signal from the preamp, but I wouldn't risk it. I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to be used as a headphone output at least.

I think it will, because it means your just gonna get the signal from the preamp, before it goes to the power amp. It is therefore a line out, and you can put headphones in a line out. However, it might be a good idea to ask at your local guitar shop or go on your amp manufacturers website.
