Can you actually record some music with this program? If so, how?

I've never used Garage Band but I imagine it's like any other piece of recording software. You'll need a program like Guitar Rig, for example, and then you set Garage Band to record sound from Guitar Rig.

You don't need another program to record to a recording software Unless you're talking about plugging your guitar directly into some sort of interface and using models to record instead of using a mic.

And yes, you can record guitar onto garage band, that's what it's for...

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

Make a new track
set the settings to mic or input depending on what you are using
hit the record button

Seriously, garage band is the easiest program to use. The help files are informative too.

if you're using electric guitar get a guitar chord with a USB end. Playing electric through the microphone sounds terrible. Acoustic on the otherhand does sound okay through the mic but definatley get a USB guitar chord. They usally run $40-$50 Canadian or American
