Hello I'm looking for a natural, dynamic, vintage, rich overdrive that could help my Vox AC30 obtain a sound close to a Marshall 59 SLP. Think Hendrix, Page and old Clapton for the tone. Things I would like are a 3 band EQ or at least something to boost the low end and maybe a boost circuit or capacity. Don't care if the overdrive is not very aggessive. Most important is a vintage sound.

I have looked the Carl Martin Plexitone and the Catalinbread SilverKiss. I liked them both (on youtube..........). I want to know what are the other alternatives and if you have an impression on the ones stated above. BTW don't care about the pricetag. Thanks. Gabou

Err, if you want your AC30 so sound like a marshall your best bet is to sell it and get a marshall.

Yeah well I'm not going to sell my AC30. First of all I want an Overdrive, not a Marshall, but I want an overdrive with a Marshally low end Growl. For the silver kiss I've heard that it sound metallic. Any comments?

If your willing to spend for boutique gear, I've heard from some gear nuts I know that the Jetter Gain Stage Black is a great overdrive that gives some plexi-ish tones. I haven't treid it myself, mind, but I'd say it's worth a look.
My name is Tom, feel free to use it.

Xotic BB Preamp. Has level, high, low, and gain knobs and can get a VERY nice OD tone or can be used as a boost.

This is what Andy Timmons does with his. (used as a boost)

And this is what it does with a clean amp. (used as main gain source)

From what I've heard, it's a great transparent OD. It's not made to model the tone of a plexi, it's made so that your amps tone is preserved.

The amp in the vid still seems to have the same basic voicing, just with more gain, at least to my ears.

There are a lot of people who swear by the Fulltone OCD for that kind of thing, I think it's Gabel who uses it instead of his Rocker 30's overdrive channel. I've not tried one personally but from what I've heard it's definitely worth looking into, seems like it'd suit you nicely.
A dwarf might hear you. What then?

Wow, I just checked their site for the first time in a awhile, they're making two more ODs than when I last checked (blue, red and black were the first), the purple may be worth a look too.
