If you recall, I was GASing for a Kalamazoo acoustic in my local shop recently. I've finally made the decision to take the plunge and sell my Seagull, my custom strat, and my Guy Hawkins jazz mouthpiece to pay for some of it (the rest, I will take out a loan).

This is a very, very difficult decision for me, but I believe it's worth it. My rationale is that there are hundreds of Seagull guitars, and there will be for many years. In fact, the Seagull I bought came in at the end of their "golden age." Seagull doesn't make their acoustics as well as they used to, and compared to even a two or three year difference, the change is noticeable.

The Guy Hawkins mouthpiece is unimportant, as I was already going to sell it. My custom strat was also already going to go.

Thoughts, everyone? *gratuitous headstock shot*

Edit: please note that these pictures were stolen from eBay. I used them because they depict practically the same guitar in practically the same condition.
Sincerely, Chad.

Good for you man. I remember when you made that thread. I figured you weren't going to go for it.

But I 100% agree with you that there will be many more seagulls down the road. If this guitar is really special you should definitely jump on it, as I can't imagine that all that many of them come around.

Like a dream.

God, giving up my Seagull is going to be hard. Unless I hit the lottery, it's the only way.

Currently making installments on a $700 payment.

Poverty sucks.

Edit: please note that I do not actually have the guitar, yet. I'm going to be selling a great deal of my net worth to afford it soon.
Sincerely, Chad.

That K'zoo's a great investment, if it's in playable condition. I found a 1935 Kalamazoo KG-11 a few months ago, and it's fantastic--it's the only vintage axe I own, and it's become my favorite.

It's got tremendous projection--roars on the bass strings, and the trebles are very bright (with a particular sweet spot between the 9th and 12 frets on the high strings--nice syrupy sound). By far the most authentic "Delta" sound of any guitar I've played. Good luck with yours--I suspect you'll love it!

Does this mean youre only paying 700 for the guitar?

That doesnt sound like a whole lot to me. You see some guitars that cost a ridiculous amount more than that and if its as good as everyone is describing sounds cheap in my opinion.
Ive never played one so i dont know too much about them though.

He's getting the guitar for $700. But like most of us, he's not able to part with that much cash up front, so he's paying it down in installments of whatever he can afford each month/payday, or when he can scrape up the cash from whatever odd jobs. He's also selling off some other instruments to afford the purchase.
Chad, how'z it going btw. Did you get her yet? Gimme an update here man!

Tragedy strikes. As soon as I get the cash, it's sold to another buyer. Some big-time collector who they couldn't refuse.

I'm absolutely crushed. All the money and time, and I'm just bonked out of the deal. I took the money I had saved up and bought an Xbox 360 to give me some consolation.

Handshake deals suck.
Sincerely, Chad.

That sux. Hope you didn't get rid of your Seagull yet.

That was thankfully one of the terms I decided and why it took so long. The Seagull had to stay, so I just had to think of another way to get the cash. At least I still have my baby.
Sincerely, Chad.

Man, condolences, Chad--that sucks. People are assholes. 700 sounds like a good deal on that axe, too.

The guy I bought mine from on eBay periodically sells them; he apparently gets Kalamazoos in mediocre/bad shape and restores them. He charges a good bit more than 700, but I've found mine to be worth it. Not that it's much consolation to you, but these do occasionally pop up on the market at reasonable prices.
