Starting out, guitar can be an extremely overwhelming instrument and no single post is going to help you. My advice is just take it slow and set up short term goals. Assuming you know all the very basic open and bar chords, give your self a couple weeks focusing on all the different flavors and fingerings of E until you can play them all by memory before moving on to A, then D, etc.

And don't forget to find ways to apply your knowledge. Learn some tunes which incorporate the new chords.

Good luck!

Theres bound to be a lesson here on UG. If not, google 'learning guitar chords' or ' basic guitar chords' or 'understanding guitar chords' or something like that.
