Can I produce Slash's tone with a set of Alnico II Pro on a Tele?. Please don't mind the amp, I know about that already.

Man.. what I wanted to ask was would I be able to get somewhere close to a Les Paul with Alnico II Pro with that guitar or not. Slash being just a direction pointer to the kind of sound I want.

The reason why Slash uses Alnico II Pros is simply because they are 'average toned', with low-output, so they generate good cleans and he can make full use of the volume control without greatly effecting his amp's overdrive. He gets the overdrive itself from the amp's own gain, not from his guitar. Really, any Alnico II magnet, low-output humbucker can get Slash's tone - as forsaknazrael says, it's all in the amp really.
Yes, I know everything. No, I can't play worth a damn.

No, the most important factors in his tone are the amp, the guitar and his technique, specifically his use of bends and virato. The specific pickups he uses rank slightly above his hat in terms of importance.

No... you're not getting it.

Nothing you do with pickups will change anything UNLESS you're running a Marshall JCM800 style amp. Combining basically any low output alnico humbucker with that amp will give you an almost instant slash tone.

Yepp. Now that I learned to leave the only-Alnico-II-for-Slash-tone club. Another pickup will suits me better. I will want to play some hi-gain stuffs, too. Low-Med output might not be enough.
