How soon should I change my strings before playing a gig, or going to into a recording studio?

Thanks

My rule of thumb is 2 days, becuase it lets them set in well enough to hold tuning, while retaining a bright crisp tone.

i change mine about 4 or 5 hours before a gig and play them for about 2 hours to warm up and stretch the strings out some. then i retune and get ready for the gig. i like to play strings that are very very new though.

I love the feel of new strings! However, two to three days sounds about right. Thanks, I learned something from this too!
