Basically, I'm soon gonna record screamed/growled vocals in a band I'm in.
We're looking at a Shure SM58.
If you know any mic that's better, tell me.
Anyways, basically what I need is a mic that has a good output for screaming & growling, and has a good high-end/treble edge.

My screaming range is medium-highish, through to REALLY low.

Is this a good mic, or is there better?

Thanks guys.

how many times are you goin to post this tonight?

this is the 3rd time so far that i have seen..............

you only need to post once...
and yes most dynamics like the 58 will work for screaming.
a condenser may break up as well cheaper dynamics.

dont stand too close to the mic, and dont record too 'hot'

lol...to contradict the above,

the SM7 is best for screams/harsh vocals, it doesn't break up as much...

p.s. one post really is enough

Just for screaming the 57 handles it ok, better than the 58, I have both and play in hardcore/metalcore band so i've used both of them to record a fair bit, the best results i've got at home so far have been in with an AKG condenser (C2000 I think, but not 100% sure cos it was borrowed) In the corner of a semi-carpeted room w/ Pop screen obviously, standing 1 & 1/2 Feet away.
