So our band is going to debut at our college next year and I want to learn as many kick ass songs as I can during the summer so we have a good set list. We're looking for rock songs that make you want to jump and dance, especially ones that go with a hundred drunk college kids. Here is what we have so far (so you get an idea of the styles we're looking for):

shook me all night long (acdc)
got to get you into my life (beatles)
song 2 (blur)
summer of 69 (bryan adamS)
i will survive (cake)
short skirt long jacket (cake)
just what i needed (the cars)
i want you to want me (cheap trick)
should i stay or should i go (clash)
i blieve in a thing called love (darkness)
all my life (foo fighters)
pretender (foo fighters)
take me out (franz ferdinand)
megalomaniac (incubus)
privilege (incubus)
circles (incubus)
are you gonna be my girl (jet)
cold hard bitch (jet)
fire (jimi hendrix)
the middle (jimmy eat world)
smells like teen spirit (nirvana)
blitzkrieg bop (ramones)
suck my kiss (rhcp)
higher ground (rhcp)
face down (red jumpsuit apparatus)
two princes (spin doctors)
someday (strokes)
last night (strokes)
reptilia (strokes)
santeria (sublime)
what i got (sublime)
dope nose (weezer)
hardest button to button (white stripes)
fell in love with a girl (white stripes)

I know we have a lot but we want to weed out songs that won't work as well and replace them with better songs, so suggestions to add/remove songs would be awesome!

I clicked System Restore and it said "System Restore Is Unable To Protect You".

I think Are You Gonna Go My Wy by Lenny Kravitz, Storm in a Teacup or Hump de Bump by RHCP, and Social Suicide by Bad Religion would be good songs to learn. Maybe Come Original by 311, if your bass player can slap well.

You said "college" and I instantly thought R.E.M.

If your vocalist can handle, try It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine). That will definitely appeal to drunk college guys+gals.

I'd take out the Cake songs, Cold Hard Bitch, and maybe the Sublime and White Stripes songs and bring in a few of these...

Heavy, Shine- Collective Soul
Pour Some Sugar on Me- Def Leppard
Sweet Child o' Mine- Guns n' Roses
Are You Gonna Go My Way (as previously suggested), Fly Away- Lenny Kravatiz
Rock You Like a Hurricane- Scorpions
Slither- Velvet Revolver

Oh, and keep You Shook Me All Night Long and maybe add few more AC/DC songs, T.N.T, Highway to Hell, Sin City?

Might I suggest you try Pretty Fly (For A White Guy) by The Offspring? that might get things going

Little wing by hendrix, I'd put this song anywhere & whenever I'd have to add one to a setlist, so good.
I love music, if music would be a girl then I'd date her, until then let's get back on Earth

let me suggest a few songs from my bands setlist. we've found that mid-90's rock songs (i dont wanna say pop, but maybe) work really well

date rape - sublime
whats my age again - blink 182
forgot about dre -dr dre (if you fudge the rhythm to use a guitar, people go crazy for a rap song in the middle of your setlist)
american woman - lenny kravitz
maria, maria - santana
highway to the danger zone - kenny lodgins
beat it - MJ (if you can handle the EVH solo, you're golden)

those are some of my suggestions

When we play at College bars we use different variations of this same setlist...In Louisiana we love to drink and we love to party as long as the music is rockin and the stuff playing has quality we're good to go
here it is:
Use somebody -- Kings of Leon
Head to Toe -- Kings of Leon
Meet Virginia -- Train
Acoustic/rock cover of sympathy for the devil by the rolling stones (using E D A for the verse and B A E for the chorus)
Crash -- Dave Matthews
Two Princes -- Spin Doctors
I dont wanna be -- Gavin Degraw
She talks to Angels -- The Black Crowes
Last dance with mary jane -- Tom Petty
Do it with the lights on -- the Benjy Davis Project
Everlong -- foo fighters
The joker -- steve miller band
cold hard bitch -- jet
Slow dancing in a burning room -- John Mayer
Gravity -- John Mayer
Who did you think i was -- john mayer

...We have 5 or 6 good upbeat originals we throw in here and there too
its taken alot of gigs but the crowd just about has no complaints at all when we play this setlist at college bars
