My band recently played our first show about a week ago and we got asked to play at a wedding in September, so I have been compiling songs that we could play there. What does everybody think of these songs? Which songs would you take out? What are some better songs to play? FYI we consist of guitar (me), bass, singer, and drummer.
Please only serious responses.

Song List:
Blues Traveler - Run Around (would not having harmonica hurt this?)
Blues Traveler - Hook (same question as above)
Bob Seger - Night Moves
Bryan Adams - Everything I Do I Do it For You
The Band - The Weight
Bad Company - Feel Like Making Love
Blues Brothers - Gimme Some Lovin
Blues Brothers - Everybody Needs Somebody To Love
Buddy Holly - Not Fade Away
Counting Crows - Mr. Jones

I don't know about Hendrix's Red House, simply because of the ending.
"'Cause if my baby don't love me no more, I know her sister will."

Just a suggestion

Get the Real Book and Real Book II. The Real book has your standard Jazz Charts in it, which everyone knows the ballads so that covers your slow tunes. Real Book II is the more modern music one it has a decent amount of funk and fusion tunes in it that will get people dancing. Also if you're good at arranging, I know a few wedding bands take like modern rock/pop/r&b/rap songs and arrange them to be like swing, funk, blues. Like the most recent one I heard was a Funk/Swing version of Kanye West's Gold Digger. for the rock side of this check out the CD "Rock Swings" by Paul Anka it has some nifty nu-Jazz versions of Smells Like Teen Spirit, Jump, Black Hole Sun, etc.

Sick of Myself- Matthew Sweet

Hey, I don't listen to Sweet, I heard the Bowling for Soup version, which was badass, yet still romantic (it doesn't swear).

Free Bird- Lynyrd Skynyrd

Hey, for half of the song, they can slow dance. For the other half they can mosh.

I'm trying to think of good slow songs for you.

Maybe one of Guns N Roses cleaner ballads? Do you think you can man up to November Rain?
He's a freak of nature, but we love him so.

Music isn't the Olympics. It's not about showing other people what you can do with a piece of wood in your hands that has strings on, it's about making sounds that are good.

I'll Be -Goo Goo Dolls
Iris -Goo Goo Dolls
Wonderwall -Oasis

Just a few of the more mainstream songs that come to mind as amazing slow songs for a wedding.

Great idea buddy, let's sing about abortions at a wedding!!!!!
That'll go over great. Why not just play For The Ladies- Stephen Lynch if you're going to play Slide.

How about:
Let My Love Open The Door- Pete Townshend
Better Together- Jack Johnson

Edit: I just read info on songfacts.com and confirmed it, and after reading the lyrics i can see it now. INSANE!
