So, as the title says, what are some songs and/or bands that you absolutely love, and could just listen to all day and never get tired of, but are never really inspired by, or never make you feel like playing music?

For example, I'm listening to Genghis Tron at the moment. I love the band, they're one of my all time favorites, but, at the same time, I don't feel like playing guitar, or any kind of music on an instrument.

But, say, if I listen to Opeth, or Explosions in the Sky, or 65daysofstatic, or Jesu, all I want to do is play or (try to) write music. It just energises my musical side.

So, what are some of yours that just fail to inspire you?

White Stripes are amazing, but it never really makes me want to play guitar.
Somtimes gives me the urge to sing though.

"Everlong" by Foo Fighters and almost anything by Bush.

I'm a metal guy but Everlong is my all-time favorite song. Never really been inspired to write that sort of music though.

Slayer I guess, with the exception of a few songs.

Edit: I take that back, probably Poison The Well and stuff like that. (I don't love them though, but like them). Generally I am inspired by all music though, I can't help it.

This.

Also, early 80s American hardcore punk. Great music, doesn't mean I'm going to write a 43 second long song with 4 different chords ranting about George Bush though.

Michael Jackson. As godly as Michael is, I could never really see myself making amazing pop songs.

Darkest Hour, the Human Abstract, Protest the Hero... awesome bands, but I would never want to write that kind of music.

Music isn't the Olympics. It's not about showing other people what you can do with a piece of wood in your hands that has strings on, it's about making sounds that are good.

Linkin Park, Metallica, Foo Fighters, Muse, and Death.

I'm really only inspired by emo, pop-punk, stoner rock, and Buckethead.

The Chemical Brothers, Jack Johnson, Jeff Buckley, Death Cab for Cutie, The New Pornographers, Sufjan Stevens (his lyrics inspire me, but all the orchestral stuff doesn't inspire my guitar playing)
I can honestly say I have really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like.

Rancid and Rage Against the Machine i love those bands but they don't inspire me to play/write as much as other bands such as The Strokes etc i listen to but MOST of the music I listen to inspires me
#18
A lot of music. Rage Against the Machine for example. As that is not the style of my playing but I love em as much as bands I truly get inspired by.

Pistols, Ramones, Clash and the whole classic punk style is another one.

all music inspires me.

I like Andrea bocalli and julio igliasias oh and also david bowie.

but they dont inspire me to pick the guitar up.

Sufjan Stevens, I love him and his vocals but can't really ever see myself taking too much influence from his musical compositions (though I am looking for a xylophone)
#23
Dragonforce i like them but they don't inspire as much as rage against the machine and urbundub does

Jeff Buckley is my all time favorite musician, and I've never been inspired to play/compose music when I listen to him. I find him inspiring in the sense of what he's said through his lyrics, but notsomuch on the musical front.

I'm not musically inspired by the hip hop I listen to either. As much as I love the genre, it doesn't make me want to play that type of music. Same with pop and classical, really.
