I'm probably not nearly good enough to go half as fast as that, but, I'd still like to understand the technique that's used in beginning of the solo at about 5:43.

I've seen a few videos on youtube where they use the pick to "tap" the strings but I can't quite grasp it just from watching those videos. Does anyone have any way they could explain it to me?

Basically, rather than holding the pick widthwise, you're holding it lengthwise (turn it 90º so it's perpendicular to your body rather than parallel), then using the thin side of the pick to hit the fret, then getting it off the string to do the hammer ons/pull offs with your fretting hand.

Well... I understood it was hitting in the frets with the pick or finger. But, I didn't understand how to execute the technique when given the tab.

You tap 19 with your finger/pick then slightly rake it sideways to sound the note on the 15th fret then you do a normal pull off

Why would you spend tens of thousands of dollars to learn about a language you already speak? It was over before it even started dude

Hm. I do understand now. But my technique's way off. Probably something I'd have to get lessons for, or figure out later for myself when I'm a lot better.

Thanks a bunch guys.
