Okay, I've reached the point where I've got all my electric equipment etc. I'm happy with it.

...And yet, all I really want to do is play upright. My problem is I've no experience with it, and I highly doubt much of muscle memory or technical ability from electric will do anything for me when I make the leap.

So, what I'd like to know is: What's the best way to get started with upright? What're the best upright models for beginners, and where in the UK could I find them?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated guys.

yup, get a teacher... I do not know the first thing about upright, beyond the fact that they exist...

Good teacher and decent instrument. Renting one seems to be the general consensus of what to do when starting out. Yeah, your muscle memory will be useless, considering the scale's, what, 10 inches longer? Also, don't expect your right hand technique to be worth anything. It's an absolutely new instrument to you, gotta start at the beginning.
