Out of curiosity, what is the difference between single coil, dual coil and split coil pickups (particularly bass pickups)?

Single coil are jazz pickups, they have a bit of a bite to them and kind of hi middy. Split coils are precision pickups and they have a punch to them. Dual coils are like Musicman pickups and they have a very warm bass sound.

Buy both pickups. Rub icyhot on both of them. Sandwich your penis between them and walk to the nearest homeless shelter with your brand new icyhot penis sandwich.
